Housing selection cancelled? Check entries before applying

A number takes seconds to enter in a housing application, but after selection it is compared with residence, family and housing records. Treat the application as a claim about facts on the notice's reference date, not a memory quiz.

Checked September 25, 2026, 22:04 KST. Korean news about cancelled housing selections prompted this guide. The reported total of 53,867 disqualifications covers 2021 through August 20, 2026; it is not an individual's future cancellation probability. Yonhap report used for topic research

Key points
  • Use the specific notice's reference date and definitions, supported by residence, family and housing records.
  • Match no-home period, dependants, household housing history and region against the receipt and evidence.
  • After selection, verify document deadlines, issue-date rules, formats and explanation notices, then retain proof of receipt.

1. Circle the reference date before calculating

No-home, residence and marriage periods and household composition may depend on the definitions and reference date in the specific recruitment notice. General and special supply types also ask different questions. Record the project, unit type, supply type, notice date, application date and selection announcement date. The current notice takes priority over summaries or experience with another project.

Mark those six items together on the first page. If a relative's past home or presale right may matter, describe the exact dates and relationship to the official contact in the notice before applying instead of relying on a general online answer.

2. Fill four boxes from documents, not memory

This is an editorial pre-check, not an eligibility decision. The notice governs.

LH's practice guide warns that entries differing from documents submitted after selection can lead to disqualification management and disadvantages. It also tells applicants to retain the receipt. LH application practice guide

Hypothetically, an applicant might assume everyone living together counts as a dependant and include themselves. That can create a mismatch. Appearing on the resident record does not automatically settle the question either; use the relationship, duration and household rules in the notice.

3. Rehearse the receipt before the final click

Read every entry against the document you will submit: region, unit, supply type, savings account, no-home period, dependants and points.

LH says entries cannot be changed after closing, and changing floor area requires deleting and resubmitting before the deadline. Leave time to review and save the completion screen and receipt. LH editing guidance

Next to each number, write the evidence that supports it—for example, “no-home period: resident-address history and disposal record checked.” This makes post-selection document preparation faster and exposes guesses before the deadline.

4. Selection starts document review

Recheck the submission period, method, issue date and required form. One 2026 LH notice required documents issued after that project's notice date and specified full identification numbers and seals. It is an example, not a universal rule. LH document notice example

If database results look wrong, respond within the explanation period with objective documents. LH says missing that period can result in exclusion. LH explanation process Confirm successful online or in-person receipt, not merely that files were sent.

Keep the online completion page or in-person receipt, and make sure the contact details on the application can receive requests for missing or supplementary documents.

A ten-minute final check

Mark the notice's reference date and supply type, review every household member's housing and address history, save the receipt and match it with evidence. After selection, check deadlines and document formatting again. This guide is a reading sequence, not an individual eligibility ruling; ask the official contact listed in the notice when a fact is ambiguous.

Detailed conditions change by provider, housing type and notice date. Give the official desk the exact reference date and family history rather than asking it to approve a vague summary.
